We all hear about “going green” and being more earth-friendly. Most of us greenie moms at least consider using cloth diapers, but many of us do not, for various reason. I was dead set on using cloth diapers, but thanks to my nearly perfect apartment’s one flaw – no washer or dryer – I had to accept that cloth just isn’t in the cards for us right now. So we look for alternatives to your run of the mill disposable diaper in an effort to be as earth-friendly as possible, and lets face it – to keep all those nasty chemicals off your cute baby’s booty!
I had the pleasure to test drive a full bag of bamboo disposable diapers from Bamboo Nature with Serenity. These diapers are pretty cool! Here are some of their great features…
We loved these diapers! They were ultra-soft, flexible and we did not experience a single leak the entire time we used them (which was every night for over a month, and a few days, too). Amazing! Serenity is a master pooper, and up until trying these diapers we were having daily blowouts.
The only complaint I have about the diapers themselves is that they do not have any kind of gusset or elastic in the back of the waistband. While we did not have any blowouts, we came very very close several times, and I think that the extra gather would make a positive difference.
These diapers are made in Denmark. One of the first things we noticed about them is that the main packaging is in Danish; talk about unexpected! The side panel has all of the relevant information in English, French, Swedish, and more.
You can purchase these earth-friendly diapers on their website store and on Amazon.com, and soon on Diapers.com ~ prices vary based on diaper size and package size.
The only other critique I have about these diapers is that they are, unfortunately, cost prohibitive. The bag I tried retails on their website for over $25, and as much as I loved them, there is no way I could ever afford to buy them for myself. I have a hard time imagining anyone would find them affordable, even in a higher income bracket than my family. The only way I could see getting around the cost issue would be to join Amazon Moms and buy in bulk using the substantial savings you can get there, and even so, it would be much more costly than other options available.
