Recently, I introduced you to my lovely mother-in-law, Cindy, in her first appearance as a guest reviewer on the blog. This week, please welcome my talented father-in-law, Brett! My husband is the funniest guy I know, and he learned from the best – his dad. Brett is a great guy, and I’m blessed to be his daughter-in-law. And with that, here’s what he has to say about this great book for LEGO lovers of all ages…

Cool Creations in 35 Pieces
by Sean Kenny
A book review by Brett Belleque
Sean Kenney’s book, Cool Creations in 35 Pieces, is a fun read that challenges its readers to complete a number of different LEGO creations using the same 35 pieces each time.
Once they’ve completed all of the designs in the book, Kenney challenges his readers to come up with their own designs, still using the same 35 pieces, and submit them online for all to see!
I love LEGO!! I have enough to bathe in (but I don’t – really, I don’t!), and that is reason alone to enjoy this book as far as I am concerned! But Kenney has done a great job in this book, challenging the reader’s creativity with a product that is sometimes just used once to build things based on the included instructions, and then stuck on the shelf to collect dust. The idea to use 35 different LEGO bricks to come up with new designs is refreshing!
This book gets a big Thumbs Up from me! But I do want to give you a head’s up about one thing…
Though I personally own a bathtub’s worth of LEGO bricks, I had trouble finding all the pieces I needed to make a solid color set of the 35 bricks listed in this book. So if you plan to give this to a friend or child (or keep it for yourself), make sure they have lots of LEGO bricks on hand to choose from! Like, a bathtub full! Otherwise I’d recommend that you hit up the LEGO store before you present the book to its new owner, and make sure you’ve got the required LEGOs. You don’t want it to be like that one Christmas, when you gave (or got) that gift that required batteries and none were included! Yah, you know what I’m talking about! Not a pretty picture.
Cool Creations in 35 Pieces is a fun book that can easily provide hours of entertainment! The thirty-two pages of full color instructions are easy to follow, and should inspire creativity in most LEGO enthusiasts!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a few designs of my own to upload to the website! Right after I take my bath…
