*We received a free party kit to throw our #DisneySide @Home Celebration.*
I’ve had the most fun, over the past year, throwing #DisneySide @Home Celebrations with Serenity and her little friends! There was the one last spring, and the one last fall, and then there was the time I got to go to a very special Disney event last summer (I’ll be chatting about it later this month). While I grew up on the movies, I’ve never been to a Disney park, so getting to be involved in the magic as an adult is increasingly special to me. And I’m so happy I get to share this with my daughter!
I think Serenity about died of excitement when she saw the huge box on our doorstep. She saw the big purple sticker, started jumping up and down, and shrieked, “Oh boy, it my birt’day!! It for me! Open it, Mommy!” She was even more excited when she discovered the two adorable Palace Pets, Slipper and Matey, waiting for her inside. Be sure to read to read to the end – we’re giving away a Matey doll!
We received our #DisneySide Celebrations kit in mid-January, but because I was on a break from blogging I decided to hold off until the end of February to host our party. Unfortunately, everybody and their cousin caught a horrible death-virus right before the party – us included! – so we ended up rescheduling twice before successfully having it the weekend before last. I think the long wait made it that much more fun, personally.
Three little princesses arrived right on time Saturday morning, dressed to the hilt – and Queen Elsa crashed the party!
The girls played with Palace Pets and My Little Pony dolls, mixed in with wooden blocks and Fisher-Price Little People, for the first hour, while Elsa and the mommies ooh’d and aah’d over my newest sweetie of a nephew, little Stephen. He came to our last party at only a couple of weeks old, and now at four months he’s a chunk!
Then it was time for a special princess treat. Cupcakes!!
Each girl received a pretty pink strawberry cupcake topped with fluffy vanilla frosting, and a little Sophia The First treat basket filled with candy toppings and sprinkles. They had a wonderful time decorating (and eating) their cupcakes, and it was fun to watch each little personality go about it her own way. Serenity, for instance, licked all the frosting off her cupcake after adding only a few sprinkles, while Cinda meticulously decorated her cupcake with every sprinkle in her basket, and Talia ripped her cupcake into pieces, then dipped each piece into the sprinkle basket like fondue!
While the girls decorated, Elsa and the mommies indulged in pre-decorated cupcakes, herbal teas courtesy of Twinings, and ice cold and refreshing fruity lemonade.
I’m super excited about the fruit-infused honey lemonade recipe I created for our #DisneySide party, and the ladies loved it! Be sure to check back tomorrow for my original recipe.
Once the treats vanished into little tummies, we played “Pin the Smile on Mickey Mouse”. I forgot to prepare a blindfold, and nobody five and under was interested in waiting while I found one, so we improvised – my hand over their eyes, and no spinning, didn’t make for a very difficult party game, but the girls were more than happy to see their smiles all over Mickey’s face, so I call it a win.
The morning flew by, and then it was time to say goodbye. Each little princess went home with her very own Doc McStuffins doctor kit goody bag stuffed with nail polish, lip glosses and chapsticks, stickers, and more, their names written on the outside for future fun. I loved that Disney sent so many wonderful extras this time around, and really allowed me to spoil the daylights out of our little party guests! The mommies even got to take home gifts.
After everyone went home, and I cleaned up all the sprinkles off the floor, Serenity and I popped open the awesome 100 piece puzzle Disney sent in our party kit, and put it together.
Serenity loves puzzles, but until now she’s only ever done the big, chunky, wooden ones made for babies and toddlers. I was pleasantly surprised at how well she did with a “big girl” puzzle, and how sharp she is for matching up pieces. She did great!
We had a blast, and can’t wait for next time! #DisneySide @Home Celebrations are definitely some of the highlights of our year. One of the best things, though, is that you can find awesome inspiration to host your own party on their website.
