Dress up your life with a gorgeous Vintage Steampunk Necklace by Lily Mairi! { Review & Giveaway }

Posted by in Everything Else on / 8 Comments
My sister-in-law, Kristine, celebrated her 25th birthday, last week, and I really wanted to get her something extra special this year. She had her 3rd baby, my sweet niece, Talia, this year, and she and her husband just purchased their first home, this summer. It’s been an exciting year, and I wanted to give her something that’s meaningful, to make this birthday a little more memorable.
Kristine absolutely loves steampunk, so when I stumbled across the Lily Mairi shop on Etsy, I immediately thought of her, and knew I had to have something from the shop for her birthday gift. I was thrilled when Jennifer, the brilliant artist behind Lily Mairi, offered to send me a gorgeous steampunk owl necklace for free, in exchange for reviewing her shop here on the blog. Yes please and thank you!!
Isn’t that gorgeous???
Handmade and incorporating vintage elements, including old clock gears (very steampunk, as is the gorgeous owl), this necklace is stunning! All of the pieces are securely integrated into a solid pendant, making it a necklace Kristine can wear around her very young children without fear of anything breaking off. The chain contains multiple sizes of links, making it very sturdy, and unlikely to break, warp, or tangle. Jennifer chose a larger clasp, which only adds to the durability of the piece. Even the three short chains at the bottom of the pendant are attached with larger rings, which I think is not only smart, but makes it even more unique and visually interesting.
My favorite thing about this necklace is the color palette. Victorian inspired, rich and dark, with a gorgeous luster and texture, it evokes a definite mood of romance and mystery.
Nick and I were so excited to be able to give Kristine such a beautiful piece of art, and the fact that every Lily Mairi creation is a one-of-a-kind handmade creation makes it that much more special. And Kristine loved her new necklace!
I really enjoyed working with Jennifer, and highly recommend her work for its beauty, durability, uniqueness, and flare for the dramatic. She makes all of her pieces by hand, down to the last detail, and all of the fabric in her flowers are constructed from vintage fabric. Her shop is stocked with a wide variety of unique items, including jewelry, hair accessories for women and girls, bow ties for boys, greeting cards, fascinators, bridal accessories, and more. Because every piece is one-of-a-kind, she adds new items on a regular basis. Jennifer began creating hair accessories and bow ties for her children, and quickly expanded (and is still expanding) to include pretty much anything her brilliant imagination could come up with. I am so excited to see what she dreams up, next!
You can connect with Jennifer and Lily Mairi on her Etsy shop, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.
As if I could be any happier with my experience with Lily Mairi, Jennifer made my day by offering you, my wonderful readers, a chance to win one of her original creations. How about that?!

One of my favorite things about this necklace is the incredible sheen and luster of the metal. The rich color palette is enhanced by the finish, and as you can see if you look at the two photographs above, the way the light hits the necklace affects how the eye perceives the color, especially on the compass arms. And look at that burnish on the floral clasp! Purely stunning. I’m almost sad to give this away, and not simply buy it from her for my own collection *wink*

  1. I try to enter and it does not work

    1. I’m very sorry to hear that, Teresa 🙁 I see that there are 200+ entries on the widget right now, so perhaps it was a temporary glitch due to the volume of people entering when you tried it. You should be able to enter now, and if not, please let me know the specifics of what is not working, and I will see what I can do. Thank you for reading my blog 🙂

    This is super cute! Love the owl. Not sure I am cool enough to be a “steampunk-er” but I would love to add this necklace to my fall wardrobe. 🙂

    1. Lol, I know what you mean 😛 I like a lot of steampunk things, but I’m not sure I would ever qualify as a “steampunker”, either. Thankfully, things like this work well with a variety of “looks”.
